Anatomical Models FAQ

What are anatomical models?

Anatomical Models are physical representations of various part of the body which can be examined for study.

Examples of the models available for checkout include:

  • brain models in 15 parts
  • brain models with arteries in 9 parts
  • three complete skeletons
  • lower leg
  • eye model
  • ear model
  • respiratory organs
  • trachea
  • esophagus
  • kidney with adrenal glands
  • elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints
Who can check out the models?  

Current faculty, staff, and students may check out the models.

When can I check out the models?    

The anatomical models can only be checked out Monday - Friday, and during staffed library hours.

Where can I check out the models    

Models can be checked out at the circulation desk.

How long can I check out the models?    

The models may be checked out for two hours at a time. They may be renewed if no one else has requested that model. Fines will be assessed for items not renewed or renewed within two hours.

How do I check out a model?    
  1. Go to the circulation desk and the tell the library staff member which model you would like.
  2. Give the staff member your RFUMS ID card.
  3. Sign the anatomical models sign-out sheet.
  4. If you would like to renew the model, call, visit, or email the circulation desk.
