Artificial Intelligence Tools for Teaching, Writing & Research

If you use AI in the creation of a work, you should clearly report what you used it for, how you used it and cite the tool. 

Both the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) require:

• If you use AI for writing assistance, include a description of how you used it in an acknowledgment 
• If you use AI for data analysis, collection, or figure generation, describe how you did so in the Methods section

In your reporting you should include the tool used, the version of the tool, and, if appropriate, the prompt that you used.
