PsycINFO Tutorial

An informative guide on the different features and resources available in PsycINFO.

How to Access PsycINFO

1. To reach PsycINFO through Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, you must go through the Boxer Library Website. When you arrive at our homepage, https://rosalindfranklin.edu/, select the library tab located at the top of the homepage.  This will bring you to the Boxer Library Main Page.

2.  On the Boxer Library page, PsycINFO is available in the Related Links sidebar on the right side of the screen or on the Electronic Resources Page

3.  When you select PsycINFO, you may be prompted to enter your HelixNet username and password.  

4.  Once you are in the database, enter terms and click Search.

This page also provides the user with a variety of ways to limit searching options in order to optimize results.

 

Helpful Search Limiters

There are several important and quick fixes to narrow down your search including, but not limited to:

  • Full Text
    • Limiting to full text ensures that you only see abstracts linked to copies of complete articles.
    • Linked Full Text is available on the Advanced Search Page.  It is usually the first limiter, a check box, on the page.

 

 

 

 

  • Language
    • On the PsycINFO Advanced Search Page, language selection can be used via a checkmark for English or other languages in the selection box.

 

  • Peer-Reviewed

     
    • Peer-reviewed articles are read, written by, approved of, and published by experts in their field.
    • On the Advanced Search Page, you can select the Peer-Reviewed check box.

      OR

    • Highlight Peer-Reviewed Journals in the Publication Type box.
       

 

  • Publication Date
    • Publication date can limit articles based on time frame. On the Advanced Search Page you can narrow the publication dates by year or by month and year if you want to be more specific.
