Below is a list of additional limits and when you may want to use them. To apply any of these limits, simply look for them in the box under the search box and click on the checkbox next to each one.
Limit Available | When to Use |
Abstracts |
If you only want your search results to contain articles with abstracts. Ovid Medline is citation database, which means that only the citation information is guaranteed. |
Animals or Humans | If you want articles which exclusively discuss animals, like mice or rats, or articles that exclusively relate to humans. |
Review Articles | If you want to only see review articles in the results list. |
Latest Update | If you only want articles from the latest update of Ovid Medline. This limit helps you to restrict to the most current articles. |
Female or Male | If you want to find results with only female or male subjects. If you want to find articles involving both (but not animals), use the Humans limit. |
Pharmacological Action | If you are looking for articles on drugs or substances that have a specific pharmacologic action. |
Core Clinical Journals (AIM) |
If you want to only find articles from journals where the content is more clinical or practice based than academic. The articles will come from journals in the Abridged Index Medicus list. |
