What is UpToDate?

UpToDate is an evidence-based online tool which supports clinical decision making. This resource is available both on campus and off, and is typically used during clinical rotations. 

Included in UpToDate:

• Over 10,000 clinical topics in 22 specialties 
• Over 1,500 Patient Education Topics
• Over 5,800 drug entries via LexiComp
• Over than 32,000 Graphics (tables, images, and figures)
• Over 170 medical calculators 

UpToDate is available both through a web-based version and a mobile app. The app tends to function better than the web version in the clinical environment, so we suggest downloading the app before you go on clinical rotations.  To learn how to download the app, visit the How To Download the Mobile App. 

How do I access UpToDate?

UpToDate is available to all current Rosalind Franklin University students, faculty, and staff through the library homepage. To access the mobile app you first need to access the web version of UpToDate through the library homepage. 

To access UpToDate and search for a clinical topic:

1. Go to the library homepage at www.rosalindfranklin.edu/library
2. Click on UpToDate under Popular Resources. 
3. If prompted, enter your HelixNet username and password.
4. Type in a topic in the search box and click search.
5. Click on a topic you would like to review.
