One of the great features of UpToDate is the availability of over 170 medical calculators, all listed in one place. 

Some of the calculators featured in UpToDate are:

How to Find Calculators

There are three main ways to access calculators in UpToDate:

• Browse a list of calculators
• Search for a specific calculator 
• Click on the name of a calculator within a clinical topic

Browse a list of calculators

1. On the UpToDate homepage, click on Calculators. 

2. When you see a calculator that interests you, click on the name of the calculator to access it.

• The calculators are initially listed by specialty.
  • To view a list of calculators listed alphabetically, click on the button for List Alphabetically which is the next to the View by specialty link.

Searching for a Calculator

1. On the Calculators page, enter in the calculator you are looking for, such as the BMI calculator. 

2. Click on the Calculator in the list.

Access a Calculator within a Clinical Topic 

In UpToDate, calculators are sometimes embedded into topics.

1. Click on the link within a topic to access the calculator. The example below shows a link to the BMI calculator within the topic: Obesity in adults: Prevalence, screening, and evaluation.
