Library Advisory Committee

Mission:

The Library Advisory Committee provides feedback and guidance to the administration of Boxer University Library to assist them in meeting their goal of supporting the educational, research, and clinical service activities of students, faculty and staff of the University community and that contribute to the effectiveness of the library as a major learning resource. This committee is a standing committee of the university as noted in the University Bylaws and reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Vision:
To be the faculty voice in the development of library resources and services.

Committee Activities:
The main responsibility of the committee is to provide feedback to the library in the area of collection development to curate a collection that best meets the needs of the faculty. Two meetings of meetings will be devoted to reviewing the electronic resource usage statistics. During these meetings, the Boxer Library staff may make recommendations for resource cuts for items such as journals and eBooks. LAC members will be asked to approve the cuts after the meeting to give time to share potential cuts with their respective programs. If a member opposes the cuts as it is an essential part of their college or program’s curriculum, the cut will be called off. Faculty recommendations for resources that cost over 2,000 per year will also be brought to the committee for feedback and discussion before a new initiative request is created. When appropriate the LAC may also provide feedback and suggestions on library services and study spaces.
