LibrarySearch Tutorial

This is an informative guide on the different features and resources available in LibrarySearch.

What is Peer Review?

When someone wants you to find articles from peer-reviewed journals, he or she wants you to find articles from journals that have an evaluation process for accepting articles for publication.

Here is how it works:

  • The journal has a panel of experts in a particular field that make up the review board.
  • That board evaluates each article submitted based on the quality of the article's content.
  • If it is a high-quality article, it is accepted for publication.
  • Think of the peer review process as you would grading. The articles with A's are iaccepted for publication, while ones who are lower than an A are rejected.

Peer reviewed journals usually are more research-based, with methodologies and references to back up their statements, while non peer reviewed journals are not. Many non peer reviewed articles are from magazines and trade publications.
