American Psychological Association (APA) Citation Style Guide

The purpose of this guide is to instruct users on some of the rules of the American Psychological Association (APA) Citation Style.

Print: Journals

Format:

Last Name, First Initial. Middle Initial. (Publication Year). Article Title. Journal Title. Volume (issue), Page Numbers. 

Example:

Clark, R.E. (1998). Motivating performance: Part 1: Diagnosing and solving motivation problems. Performance Improvment, 37(8), 39-47. 

  • All citations need to be in a hanging indent. 

Format:

Last Name, First Initial. Middle Initial., Last Name, First Initial. Middle Initial., & Last Name, First Initial. Middle Initial.  (Publication Year). Article Title. Journal Title, Volume (issue), Page Numbers.

Example:

Brodzinsky D., Hitt J.C., & Smith D. (1993).Impact of parental separation and divorce on adopted and nonadopted children. The American journal of orthopsychiatry, 63(3), 451-461. 

  • All citations need to be in a hanging indent. 

Format:

Example:

Example:
