Copyright Clearance Center

The Annual Copyright License through the Copyright Clearance Center was obtained by the Boxer Library as part of a New Initiative Request in 2021. This annual license serves the Rosalind Franklin University community as a whole by providing access to usage rights for over 1.5 million text-based materials (journals, magazines, newspapers, books, and more). This encourages and enables increased collaboration within the University and also provides a good-faith effort by the University to maintain compliance with copyright laws.

This license allows

  • Electronic course reserves (eReserves)
  • Coursepacks
  • Classroom handouts
  • Email and discussion groups among RFUMS faculty, staff, and students
  • Administrative communications

The license does not allow

  • The reproduction of all or a substantial part of a work
  • Advertising, marketing, or promotional materials
  • Distribution of copyrighted material outside of the University, unless that person is collaborating on a University-sponsored
  • Usage rights for audio, video, or images

You should verify if a title is covered and what usage is acceptable by searching for it on the Copyright Clearance Center's Annual Copyright License search page (login required). Questions about coverage? Contact the library at eresources@rosalindfranklin.edu.

Verifying Usage Rights

To verify if an item is covered by the Annual Copyright License, you'll need to create an RightFind account using your RFUMS email address. Once you've done so, you can look for a resource by title, ISSN (for a journal), or ISBN (for a book) on the Annual Copyright License search page.

If the material is covered by the Annual Copyright License, you'll see a green checkmark indicating the allowable types of use

If the material is not covered by the license, you will see a red circle with a line through it indicating that usage is not allowed

If you have questions about usage rights or you'd like the library the verify coverage of an item for you, please send us an email at eresources@rosalindfranklin.edu.
