Boxer Library Updates - Knowledge in Bloom - Spring 2023

by Claressa Slaughter on 2023-03-07T11:53:52-06:00 in Quarterly Newsletter | 0 Comments

Message from the AVP

As we notice the flowers coming into bloom with warmer temperatures, the Boxer Library team wanted to share a few announcements and events which may help you to grow your own knowledge and expertise. These things include the variety of study tools in the library collection within resources such as BoardVitals and AccessMedicine, how to request and find dissertations, and procedures around students hosting giveaways in the library. As graduation and transitioning to clinical rotations draws closer, the library team would like to send wishes of good luck to all members of the RFUMS community as the 2022-2023 academic year draws to a close.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hosting Giveaways in the Library

As we draw closer to the end of the academic year, the library team would like to remind students that if they want to host a food or item giveaway, to fill out the form or send an email to eresources@rosalindfranklin.edu. The library team is happy to work with any student group to ensure that the giveaway goes smoothly. Working with the library team also ensures that as many student groups as possible can use the library space for this purpose.

Whiteboards in the Library

Since spring is typically the time of year students are studying for exams, there is a high demand for whiteboards, especially the mobile ones. Due to this high demand, this is a good time to remind students about whiteboard use etiquette so as many different students can use them as possible.

Priority for mobile whiteboard use should be for areas that do not have a whiteboard on the wall, and for those who need a device for writing things on to study or collaborate.

Using mobile whiteboards to block a door is not allowed as it is a fire hazard. As noted in the library's rules and regulations, they are not to be used as privacy screens.

If you are finished using a whiteboard, please return to the Learning Commons in either the area in front of the Anatomy Resource Room or in front of the office with the large windows (AVP's office). This way other students can know where to find them if they need one.

Thank you for your continued support to share these resources so many students can use them to support their studying, collaborating, and learning.
