from the AVP

Welcome to the Fall Quarter 2024! This fall the theme is getting to know the library as we have many new faces on campus between new students, faculty, and staff.  We met some of you during new student orientation and in meetings and we are looking forward to partnering with you on your journey at RFUMS. In this newsletter you will learn about our new Associate Director Carol Ng-He, our new Zotero guide, access to New England Journal of Medicine AI journal, library topics on how to access assistance, Interlibrary Loan, and electronic resources, as well upcoming events.  As always if you ever have any questions feel free to email eresources@rosalindfranklin.edu for help. Good luck to all as you embark on this important and exciting time.

Library Space Reminders
With the new quarter underway, it’s a great time to review the library's noise policies. Each space has its own guidelines:
  • Learning Commons: Moderate voices for contained collaboration.
  • Quiet Study Area: Whispered conversations, cell phones on silent.
  • Silent Study: Complete silence; please relocate for conversation.
  • Remember, walls and doors aren’t soundproof, so apply these rules in study rooms and cubbies as well. Look for our color-coded posters to know what’s allowed where you’re studying. If noise is disrupting your study, inform library staff—multiple offenses may be referred to Student Affairs.

  • As a shared space, please take your belongings when you leave to keep areas open for others. Don’t forget to clear any trash and keep personal items secure. Together, we can maintain a respectful and productive environment for everyone.
